So, summer is practically upon us. As many of you know, I am a "go out and do" sort of person and this summer, I'd like to try to do some exploring. Join me, will you? Here is the challenge - go somewhere new in your part of the world. Do something different. Explore a part of your city or town that you've never tried. Maybe a new museum, amusement park, restaurant, playground, nature trail or historical site. Maybe there is a festival you've always meant to go to. I'm a mom of young children, so most of the time I'll be bringing my crazy ones with me, but you certainly don't have to have kids to participate!!
If you want to join the challenge, here's how we'll do it. The challenge will run from June 1-Sept 1. You get to decide what is an adventure for you - if it's the same places you always go during the summer, probably it doesn't count. If you can't think of anywhere you haven't gone, call friends. Google "places to go in____" . I check out travel guides of my area from the library or go to a hotel lobby and pick up some of their brochures.
Here are the levels:
Level 1: Walk around the block
explore two new places this summer
Level 2: Road Trip
explore five or more new places this summer
You decide what level of challenge and how far from home you are willing to travel :) Make a list of places you want to try on your blog (you can add to it or change it any time). Then come back here and sign up with your list post (after your name, put where you're from, will you?? Oh, and please be sure to put the link to the actual post, not just to your blog). Even if you find this after June 1, it is not too late to sign up!!! You can sign up until its over. You can put this little button on your blog to show that you're making an effort to spice up your summer!
Then you must have fun! See new places!! Post about the quirky details and what you loved or hated about where you went, then come back here to the reviews post and post your review with Mr. Linky. Then we can all read about everyone else's adventures and maybe get some ideas of places to try some day. Leave a comment if you want to sign up, spread the word and see you around!!

This summer has already been a summer of new places, I went to at least 4 new states, Lancaster County, a new ward, but I am going to start over!!! i am really excited!
Ok, I'm going to do what I can! I'll even try the 5 new places!! We'll see how much energy I have to get through it all.
Between our roadtrip, camping, youth conference, Scouting High Adventure (Matt is in Young Men's), my sister coming to visit, saturday day-trips, and getting the boys ready for kindergarten, we've got a busy summer ahead of us. Bring it on!
Lauren - holy cow!! You've had a great start :) Maybe you should tag along with me on some of mine :)
Cami - Well done, and with tiny new baby in tow :)
Jenny - that is some serious summer business ahead. I'm so glad you joined!!
Well, everywhere I go is new in MI, but I won't bore you with my trips to the grocery store or the park. I will have to think of something really exciting and get to it after I get unpacked!
I'm doing it! I haven't posted a list yet, but I will soon! So far we've camped in three new places, Hagerstown Jellystone Park, Elkridge State Park, and Swallow Falls State Park and explored Deep Creek State Park. But I want to see lots of other places near and far this summer. I'll make my list and come back and post it :)
Okay, I'm in! I am going to stick with "Walk Around the Block". :) We have our first camping trip ever (post-kids) coming up!
My link actually goes just to my blog and not my post. Sorry. I are lame.
Mine too...
OK, its posted now :) Here ya go, http://thevancegirls.blogspot.com/2008/06/summer-adventure-challenge.html
OK, it's on -- I actually have #1 on schedule for this afternoon. Lockhart, Texas -- here we come!
Okay, Corinne! I'm in! I'm excited. Hopefully my little list will lead to even more adventures!
I'm in! I found your blog through Gift of Green. :) I'll do the Level 2, but will mostly be places fairly close to home.
Okay, Corrine. I set up a blog specifically so I can do your challenge. :)
I love this idea! Our summer looks like it will be a hectic one with a possible temporary move to Louisiana, but we'll try to post some of our adventures. I actually already have some from recent travels in North Carolina...can I post those?
Lucia - YES, please post!! All adventures are welcome :) I'll make you an author
i finally signed up! i don't really know what i'm doing with all this high tech gadgetry, but i do have a tentative list of places to visit.... on with the fun!
I am Cami MD's cousin and Michelle in UT's friend...so I am going to do this because I have a 3 year old that needs lots of adventures :) We might only do this on a "level one" nevertheless, we will try out some new things- not many road trips though with the price of gas.
My August is more open for new places.... better late than never!
